The Opekiska Trailhead is located at mile 24 of the 29-mile Mon River Rail-Trail. It provides 11 parking spots designated for trail parking at the end of Opekiska Road and at the start of the access road to the Opekiska Lock and Dam.
This trailhead compliments the recent improvements by the DNR to provide river access near the confluence of White Day Creek and the Monongahela River. This established rail-trail parking will provide better access for those wanting to bike, hike or run on the rail-trail or access the river to fish or paddle.
