Bike Fix-It Stations

There are four bike fix-it stations at trailheads along the Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trails.  They are located at Van Voorhis, Star City, and Prickett’s Fort Trailheads on the Mon River Rail-Trail and the Masontown Trailhead on the Deckers Creek Rail-Trail.  An additional fix-it station is located at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown with funding from the city of Morgantown.

A bike fix-it station includes an air pump and a repair stand with tools attached for simple bike repairs.  These are just one more amenity to give the Mon River and Deckers Creek Rail-Trails a welcoming atmosphere and assure a fun and positive rail-trail experience.

Background:

The funding for these trail amenities came about from two avid cyclists partnering with the Mon River Trails Conservancy and kick-starting a Fund the Fix-Its Campaign with $1,000 to match donations from the community.  As a part of this campaign, awards from the Trail Volunteer Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation and the Mavis Grant & George W. Lilley Jr. Community Enhancement Fund helped to leverage more donations from trail users.  Over $7,000 was raised with a diverse mix of support from individuals, businesses, and grant foundations for these amenities on the rail-trails.
