A MOUNTAIN-MADE GREAT TIME
ON NATIONAL TRAILS DAY


A record 391 runners crossed the finish line at the 9th annual Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon, on June 6, 2009. This celebration of local rail-trails has brought state and national attention to the Mon River Trails Conservancy with its unique mostly downhill 13.1-mile course from Masontown to Morgantown. With ideal race day temperatures, this year's race attracted runners from fourteen states, Washington D.C., and Canada. Some participants came from as far away as Arizona, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, North and South Carolina, and Indiana and ranged in age from 14 to 76.Results and pictures are available at www.iplayoutside.com.

24 Hours at Big Bear - June 13 & 14, 2009
Make pledges to the TEAM MRTC ENDURANCE as they ride a treacherous mountain bike course for 24 hours straight at Big Bear Lake Campland near Hazelton, WV. All pledges will help with trail amenities, maintenance, and construction. Please print and fill out a plege form in Adobe Acrobat pdf format.
BICYCLE POKER RUN & POTLUCK PICNIC

CHECK IN, TRAIL COURSE,
Check in time will be at 2:00 p.m. at Marilla Park in Morgantown, WV. The 11-mile course is on flat, scenic rail-trail and ends with a free picnic at Marilla Park upper pavilion at 4:00 p.m. Travel to five card stops and ending at Marilla Park upper pavilion. Best poker hand wins. $10 per hand and you can play as many hands as you like. Win $100 prize for the best hand or $10 gift certificate from Wamsley Cycles for the worst hand. All proceeds benefit the Mon River and Deckers Creek Trails.

Or Skip the Poker Run and just join the Mon River Trails Conservancy for a potluck picnic at 4:00 pm. Feel free to bring goodies to share. In case of rain, the poker run and picnic will be rescheduled for a sunnier day.
Deckers Creek Half Marathon - June 2, 2007
Lucky number seven produced a hot summer day for the 232 runners that participated in the 7th annual Deckers Creek Trail Half-Marathon. This celebration of local trails has brought state and national attention to the Mon River Trails Conservancy with its unique mostly downhill 13.1 mile course from Masontown to Morgantown. This years race attracted runners from a record fourteen states and the Washington D.C. area and from as far away as including Arizona, Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Illinois and Georgia. Crossing the finish line, participants ranged in age from 14 to 77. The half-marathon began in Masontown, WV and finished at Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park in Morgantown. BICYCLE POKER RUN

A Bicycle Poker Run is a day of fun for all riders regardless of skill level and suitable for all ages. Cyclist travel from the starting point to four card-stops on the rail-trail where they pick up one playing card. The player with the best poker hand at the finish wins. Cyclist can chose any route to get to the card-stops, because this is not a race. The cyclist with the best hand wins, so bike safely and enjoy the rail-trail. For a donation of $10 per hand you can play as many hands as you like. $100 final prize for the best poker hand, and a $10 gift certificate from Wamsley's Cycles for the worst hand.
Tails for Trails Dog Walk

Trick or Treat your Dog to an early Halloween Walk.
Costumes optional!

Marilla Park to Stanley's Spot Dog Park and back, approximately 2 miles on a fairly flat, paved Deckers Creek Rail-Trail. First 50 dogs to register to participate will receive a PETCO neckerchief and "doggie bag" full of surprises.
Pre-registration by Monday, October 8- $7 per dog Registration received after Monday, October 8- $10 per dog. All proceeds benefit the Mon River Trails Conservancy (MRTC) to help construct, manage, and maintain the Mon River and Deckers Creek Trails.
